What does global solidarity mean and what is the impact of promises?

Promises alone do not save lives. Our first campaign video is now online and shows what happens when financial commitments become reality and why global solidarity depends on governments delivering what they have promised.

TOGETHER WE SAVE LIVES – The Global Fund: From Financial Contributions to Impact is a joint international advocacy campaign by the Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN), Alliance for Public Health (APH) and Action against AIDS Germany. Launched at AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, the campaign follows the journey from financial commitments to their real impact on people and communities.

The first of our three campaign videos asks two simple questions: What does global solidarity mean? What is the impact of promises?

Through the voices of community advocates from around the world, the video shows what financial commitments to the Global Fund mean in practice: uninterrupted HIV treatment, timely TB diagnosis, malaria prevention and strong community systems that reach people who are too often left behind.

But all of this starts with a promise and a promise alone is not enough.

Financial commitments save lives only when they are delivered in full, on time and reach the communities that depend on them. When commitments become reliable funding, solidarity becomes something concrete: treatment people can count on, prevention that protects communities and health and community systems that remain strong in times of crisis.

Watch Video 1: What does global solidarity mean? What is the impact of promises?

Over the coming weeks, we will continue exploring what global solidarity means in practice, whose lives are affected by funding decisions and why accountability matters.

Because promises alone do not save lives.

Promises kept do. Together, we save lives.
