How do you keep healthcare within reach when war disrupts services and forces people to leave their homes?

At AidEx Geneva, an international humanitarian aid and development event, Dr Andriy Klepikov, Executive Director of the Alliance for Public Health (APH), will share how APH and its local partners are responding to this challenge in Ukraine.

Our experience spans mobile clinics reaching frontline communities, telemedicine and digital support, and community-led initiatives addressing urgent humanitarian needs – while keeping HIV, TB and harm reduction services running.

“When russia launched its full-scale invasion, we didn’t start from zero. More than 25 years of fighting HIV had given us something no emergency fund can buy overnight: the trust of communities others struggle to reach. We turned that trust into a lifeline, helping more than 2.2 million people and delivering over 2,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies across Ukraine, while keeping HIV, TB and harm reduction services running through the war. Ukraine shows that HIV programmes combined with timely preparedness measures can be the backbone of the response. Our message to AidEx is clear: break down the silos between HIV and humanitarian work, and we can reach more people, faster,” says Dr Andriy Klepikov.

Join us for “Enhancing Locally Led Response by Breaking Down Siloes Between the HIV and Humanitarian Sectors.”

Together with Frontline AIDS, SIDC and Christian Aid, we will explore lessons from Ukraine and Lebanon and discuss how the two sectors can work more closely to sustain essential services, strengthen local leadership and reach marginalised communities during emergencies.
